Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

The electrical, instrumentation and controls engineer at IPS leads the electrical engineering, automation and process control for IPS projects and will serve in the near future as the head of IPS Automation Division.

Job Brief

IPS looks for an experienced Electrical & Controls Engineer to be responsible for the design, construction and programming of IPS projects from inception through start up and optimization. The successful candidate will be able to design, develop and implement industrial control systems Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for assisting in new IPS Automation division proposal formation, staff recruiting, shop tooling and personnel management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design low voltage motor control centers, low voltage motor control panels, PLC panels, and power distribution systems.
  • Interpret and generate electrical one-line diagrams
  • PLC schematics, loop sheet drawings, conduit schedules, and panel layouts
  • Interpret and generate process flow diagrams and P&IDs with the mechanical engineering team assistance
  • Instruments selection and specifications
  • Develop PLC and HMI programs for IPS projects and IPS Automation customers
  • Perform field surveying, installation, commissioning, start-up and troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation and control systems
  • Assist with project’s electrical and instrumentation estimation, bidding and procurement
  • Perform personnel functions, such as supervision of contraction workers, technicians, technologists, and other engineers.

Requirements:

  • Proven work experience in electrical design including 24VDC , 120 VAC electrical circuits including branch circuits protection and in 480VAC 3 phase circuits including motor protection
  • HMI& PLC programming of Rockwell and Siemens PLC and HMI’s including software (Rockwell Automation’s Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View Studio are required, as well as certain level of proficiency in Siemens Tia Portal PLC and WinCC HMI programming software)
  • Working knowledge of engineering drafting software (AutoCad is required)
  • Ethernet networks design and troubleshoot
  • Experience in bulk material handling processes of industrial minerals (desired)
  • Experience in project and field management (Desired)
  • Analytical thinker with interpersonal skills good communication skills
  • BS degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineer, Mechatronics Engineer preferred)
  • Ability to travel up to 35% with no more than 2 weeks out unless international travel is involved.
